Referee's report by John Gray McKendrick, on a paper 'The 'blaze-currents' of the frog's eyeball' by Augustus Desire Waller
Reference number: RR/15/130
Date: January 1901
Description
Sectional committee: Physiology
Recommended for publication in Philosophical Transactions, in full. The only point on which he is doubtful is whether the results entitle the author to regard the retina as an 'electrical organ'. So far as he can judge the effects of single induction shocks on the electric organ for fish have nothing to do with the normal electrical activity of the organ and in like manner the effects of single induction shocks on the retina may have nothing to do with the electrical response to the stimulus of light. All illustrations are necessary. The author has undoubtedly made a substantial contribution to the advancement of natural knowledge and the research has been carried out with the care and precision characteristic to all the author's work.
[Published in Philosophical Transactions B, 1901].
