Description

Not recommended for publication in the Proceedings of the Royal Society of London. The paper describes experiments from 1874-1875, the results of which have already been published in the Proceedings. There is little reference to the work undertaken in the intervening years. Refers to work of Thomas Ewan. The publication of the experiments twenty years after the results 'would seem to be an anachronism'.
