Referee's report by Mervyn Herbert Nevil Story Maskelyne, on a paper 'The rubies of Burma and associated minerals: their mode of occurrence, origin, and metamorphoses. A contribution to the history of corundum' by C Barrington Brown and John Wesley Judd
Reference number: RR/12/275
Date: 20 April 1895

Description
Recommended for publication in the 'Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society', if shortened. Considers the paper more suitable for the Transactions of the Geological Society. 'It may seem undesirable to divide it and only to print a portion of it in full; yet if it is to appear in the Transactions this is the only course I can recommend, having in view the crowded condition of the suppliant memoirs seeking entrance into that great repository of original works of research'. Suggests sections for reduction or omission, which could be replaced with a summary. The omitted sections could form a paper in their own right.
