Description

The paper is long, and if it is printed in full, it should be published in Philosophical Transactions. The subject of he paper seems more suitable for Proceedings and if some figures were omitted, it should be published in there. The results are 'most interesting as an independent contribution to the early history of Indian astronomy'. The paper submitted describes a Sanskrit treatise on astronomy, the Surya Siddhanta or Sun treatise, dated from the Gupta era.
