Description

Plate 15, figures 1-11 showing graphs of the spectra of various substances on paper, including ammonio-citrate of iron [ammonium ferric citrate]. Inscribed with publication and plate details. A pencil inscription bottom right reads 'NB. Figs. 10 and 11 are of the natural size - and will require to be made one half larger by the engraver to agree with the rest.' Next to this, an ink inscription reads 'The Engravings need not be coloured.' Figures 10 and 11 drawn separately and pasted onto sheet with other figures. Not signed.

Published in Philosophical Transactions as part of paper titled 'On the action of the rays of the solar spectrum on vegetable colours, and on some new photographic processes' by John Frederick William Herschel.

Received by the Royal Society on 15 June 1842. Read 16 June 1842.
