Description

Plate 22 containing 12 figures of fossilised teeth from various animals, including red and fallow deer, discovered at Kirkdale Cave, Yorkshire [England]. Figures are pasted onto two backing sheets, the lower of which is inscribed with the artists' names. The work is inscribed with publication and plate details. Royal Society stamp verso. The manuscript for this paper is wanting.

Published in Philosophical Transactions as part of paper titled 'Account of an assemblage of fossil teeth and bones of elephant, rhinoceros, hippopotamus, bear, tiger, and hyæna, and sixteen other animals; discovered in a cave at Kirkdale, Yorkshire, in the year 1821: with a comparative view of five similar caverns in various parts of England, and others on the continent' by William Buckland.

Read to the Royal Society on 21 February 1822.
