Plate 15, figure 1 showing the arcs of the distances of stars in the Milky Way. The work is inscribed with publication and plate details. A note 'Turn over' appears in pencil, bottom right. Not signed. Royal Society stamp verso. Watermarked 'Ruse & Turners 1815'.

Subject: Astronomy

Published in Philosophical Transactions as part of paper titled 'Astronomical observations and experiments tending to investigate the local arrangement of the celestial bodies in space, and to determine the extent and condition of the Milky Way' by William Herschel.

Read to the Royal Society on 19 June 1817.
