Refers to limestone caverns in Oreston, now a suburb of Plymouth. A portion of this paper was written by William Clift. The manuscript for Clift's section is found at PT/16/10. Illustrations for this paper have been separated from the manuscript and are found at PT/73/10/7-17.

Published in Philosophical Transactions as 'On some fossil bones discovered in caverns in the limestone quarries of Oreston. By Joseph Whidbey, Esq. F. R. S. in a letter addressed to John Barrow, Esq. F. R. S. to which is added, a description of the bones by Mr. William Clift, Conservator of the Museum of the College of Surgeons'.

Written by Whidbey at the Admiralty, London. Read 6 February 1823.
