Paper, 'Researches on spectrum photography in relation to new methods of quantitative chemical analysis' by W N [Walter Noel] Hartley
Reference number: PP/2/10
Date: 1882
Description
Hartley writes: 'Since I perfected the instrument employed by me in investigating the molecular structure of organic compounds, I have been engaged in studying the spark spectra of elementary bodies with the object of applying my method of working to the purposes of technical chemical analysis. Progress in the course of this research has proved it to be necessary to investigate all kinds of spectra de novo in the hitherto little explored ultra-violet region.'
Annotations in pencil and ink.
Subject: Chemistry / Photography
Received 22 May 1882. Read 15 June 1882. Communicated by George Gabriel Stokes.
A version of this paper was published in volume 34 of the Proceedings of the Royal Society as 'Researches on spectrum photography in relation to new methods of quantitative chemical analysis'.
