Description

Andrews communicates the results of an investigation into certain temperature and other conditions affecting the passivity of iron and steel in concentrated nitric acid. The experiments of Series III, in this paper, relate to the effect of temperature, and the observations of Series IV refer to the influence exerted by nitric acids, of varied concentration, on the passive condition of iron and steel. For part one of Andrews' investigation into the passive state of iron and steel see PP/16/11.
