Description

The letter states the findings of the Committee as regards the subject of an extended system of magnetic observations.

Mentioned are the naval expedition under the command of Captain James Clark Ross and the establishment of fixed magnetic observatories, the object of which being "the execution of a series of corresponding magnetic observations during a period of three years".
