Copy of letter, copied as part of the correspondence project led by Colonel John Herschel FRS following the death of his father. Has just had a letter from W. S. Stratford announcing his decision to resign from the secretaryship of the Astronomical Society. Comments on this. He himself is also thinking of resigning the Presidency at the Anniversary meeting. Regarding the microscopes.
