Autograph letter signed by sender. Thanks John Frederick William Herschel for favorable opinion of James Stirling's paper, as expressed to Hugh Martin. Comments on John Frederick William Herschel's remarks on allotropy, and on connection between physics and life. Believes Germans preeminent in physiology.
