Autograph letter signed by sender. On John Frederick William Herschel's portrait, which Richard Sheepshanks is trying to send to John Frederick William Herschel at the Cape. Asks John Frederick William Herschel to forgive the 'liberty' he has taken with John Frederick William Herschel's 'physiognomy,' but Richard Sheepshanks wants to show off John Frederick William Herschel as an 'ornament' of Cambridge. Updates John Frederick William Herschel on Francis Baily's progress and the status of the St. Helena Observatory.
