Description

Autograph letter signed by sender. Magnetic observations have been made regularly for a year and a half at the college at Cambridge by W. C. Bond. After John Frederick William Herschel's letter another set of instruments has been obtained to make another series of observations. Money from Hugh Smithson has been loaned to Arkansas. Comments on red auroral light seen. With the more frequent steamship service now hopes for quicker communications from John Frederick William Herschel.
