Account of Petty's double-bottomed ship (catamaran) called 'Simon and Jude' because it was launched on the feast day of Simon and Jude (28 October) - later called 'Invention' -had two 'cylinders' each two foot in diameter with a mast 20 feet long - sailed with a single 'smack-sayle' from Dublin to Lacy Hill - details about how she sailed - carry 40 men - that several models had been made - one to carry three men was constructed before this version
