Concerning queries about mines for 'Philosophical Transactions'; states that he will write to John Beale with queries about petrification and if there are any petrified springs in his neighbourhood; states that the stationers and printers have not, as yet, been able to resume trade after the Great Fire implying that it will be difficult to persuade them to print the 'Philosophical Transactions'; concerns rebuilding London after the Great Fire; discussing the political consequences following the death sentence of Monsieur Buat; transcribes an extract of a letter in French about how to govern Paris
