Presents four letters from William Jones to James Hodgson (see volume EL/I1/183-186) and one from Pierre Maupertuis to [James] Bradley (EL/M3/60b).
States that letters were found amongst Francis Baily's papers with a manuscript of Flamsteed's account.
Discusses Maupertuis's letter stating that it has the first announcement confirming Newton's theory from the Lapland expedition.
