Four case-studies are:
- a woman who was cured of her illness by sweating in a hogshead of barley malt
- a woman who was cured of rheumatism by being raised above mugs of rum which had been set alight
- an account of a horse which had a large stone taken out of its stomach
- various methods used to relieve a man who had maggots in his ear after a fly had been there
