Description

Original was dated 19 February 1737 and was in French
Concerning experiments at Tornea and Pello in Lapland (on the Swedish-Finnish border) in determining the figure of the earth; encloses a letter from Alexis Clairaut with his paper on the figure of the earth, and proposes him as a candidate for election to the Fellowship; informing the Royal Society that M de Isle intends to take measurements of the gulf of Finland in determining the figure of the earth.
