Description

Two engraved figures, labelled A and B, showing two forms of imposing torture or capital punishment. Figure A shows the equuleo or equuleus method of torture in which the torture victim is stretched over the back of a horse on a rack. Figure B shows a method of crucifixion in which the torture victim is raised off the ground by the armpits on a U-shaped hook.
