Description

Experiments and observations made by Brotherton at Hey in Lancashire on the bark and growth of crab apple trees, Scotch pines, poplars, hazels, and ash trees. A romantic poem unrelated to trees is written on the final page of the manuscript.

Published in Philosophical Transactions as 'An account of several curious observations and experiments, concerning the growth of trees; made by Thomas Brotherton, of Hey, in the County of Lancaster, Esq. Brought in and read before the R. S. by R. H. Fellow of the said Society'.

Communicated by Robert Hooke. Read to the Royal Society on 18 May 1687.
