Description

Bose writes: 'If we take a rod of metal and strike it at any point, a wave of molecular disturbance will travel outwards from the point of origin. In the present paper it will be shown that the wave of molecular disturbance is accompanied by a wave of electrical disturbance; demonstration will also be given of various electromotive effects due to molecular disturbance.'

Annotations in ink throughout. Includes 30 diagrams and graphs and five photographs relating to Bose's experimental results.

Subject: Physics

Received 14 March 1902. Read 15 May 1902.

A version of this paper was published in volume 70 of the Proceedings of the Royal Society as 'On electromotive wave accompanying mechanical disturbance in metals in contact with electrolyte'.
