The paper is a discussion of Professor [John] Milne’s Catalogues of 8,331 earthquakes, recorded as having occurred in Japan, during the eight years 1885 to 1892 inclusive.

Annotations in ink throughout. Includes a map of Japan showing 'earthquake districts'.

Whilst the Royal Society declined to publish this paper in full, an abstract of the paper was published in volume 60 of the Proceedings of the Royal Society as 'On lunar periodicities in earthquake frequency'.
