Description

Spencer presents observations on the geology of the district, modern and ancient topography, the discharge of the Niagara River, the modern recession of the Falls, laws of erosion, the relation between the terrestrial or epeirogenic movements and Niagara Falls and the relation of the Falls to geological time.

Annotations in ink throughout.

Whilst the Royal Society declined to publish this paper in full, an abstract of the paper was published in volume 56 of the Proceedings of the Royal Society as 'Niagara falls as a chronometer of geological time'.
