Description

Fletcher was invited to undertake a chemical examination of the meteoric stone by J W [John Wesley] Judd, through whom the two fragments of the stone sent to England by Professor Ulrich were presented to the British Museum. Fletcher writes in detail on methods of meteoric analysis and experimental results obtained in the course of the analysis of the stone.
Annotations in ink throughout. Includes an index.

Whilst the Royal Society declined to publish this paper in full, an abstract of the paper was published in volume 55 of the Proceedings of the Royal Society as 'Chemical analysis of the meteoric stone found at Makariwa, near Invercargill, New Zealand, in the year 1886'.

A version of this paper was published by Fletcher in the Mineralogical magazine and journal of the Mineralogical Society: Fletcher, Lazarus. 'Chemical Analysis of the Meteoric Stone found at Makariwa, near Invercargill, New Zealand, in the year 1879.'
