Description

Dallas presents observations on the origin and progressive motions of cyclones in 'the Western Indian region' and 'Arabian Sea', identifying two classes of cyclonic phenomena to be considered: the 'indigenous cyclone which is formed over the sea and the antecedent conditions of which may be traced in the surface changes of wind and pressure', and those 'of foreign origin and the cyclonic whirl of this class is confined at first to the upper strata of the atmosphere and the surface manifestation depends on the existence of favourable atmospheric conditions within the atmospheric strata interfering between the Earth's surface and the whirl above referred to.'
