Warner presents observations on muscular movements in man. The paper is divided into three sections: 'Study of movements in man', 'Evolution of visible movements in man' and 'Inferences as to properties of nerve-centres and modes of action as deduced from the study of movements'.

Annotations in ink throughout. Includes a detailed table of contents.

Whilst the Royal Society declined to publish this paper in full, an abstract of the paper was published in volume 44 of the Proceedings of the Royal Society as 'Muscular movements in man, and their evolution in the infant: a study of movement in man, and its evolution, together with inferences as to the properties of nerve-centres and their modes of action in expressing thought'.

A version of this paper was published by Warner in the Journal of Mental Science [later British Journal of Psychiatry]: Warner, Francis. 'Muscular Movements in Man, and their Evolution in the Infant: a Study of Movement in Man, and its Evolution, together with Inferences as to the Properties of Nerve-Centres and their Modes of Action in expressing Thought.'
