Unpublished paper, 'On the formation of uric acid in the animal economy and its relation to hippuric acid' by Alfred Baring Garrod
Reference number: AP/62/3
Date: 15 February 1883
Description
Garrod communicates the results of a series of experiments and observations on uric and hippuric acid. He determines the solubility of uric acid and of some of its more important salts at the temperature of the healthy human body and arranges this information in a tabular form. He ascertains the action of urates of ammonium and sodium upon chlorides and phosphates of the same bases, when mixed with each other in different proportions. For corrections, see AP/63/1.
Includes three plates of anatomical figures and specimens under the microscope.
Subject: Biology / Chemistry / Physiology
Received 15 February 1883. Read 22 February.
Whilst the Royal Society declined to publish this paper in full, an abstract of the paper was published in volume 35 of the Proceedings of the Royal Society as 'On the formation of uric acid in the animal economy and its relation to hippuric acid'.
