Smith continues his research into the absorption of gases by charcoal (see AP/45/11). He summarises the conclusions of his earlier paper and presents further experimental observations.

Whilst the Royal Society declined to publish this paper in full, an abstract of the paper was published in volume 28 of the Proceedings of the Royal Society as 'Absorption of gases by charcoal. Part II. On a new series of equivalents or molecules'.
