130 pages of tables recording the mean time of Sun picture, number of group in the Kew catalogue, angle of position, longitude from node, heliographical longitude, heliographical latitude and spot for the authors' sunspot observations over the period of 1 January 1867 to 29 December 1869, with an introduction.

Annotations in ink throughout. Marked on front as 'Phil Trans p II 1872' and 'In consequence of the errors in Mr Loewy's tables, this paper after being set up in type for Phil Trans was cancelled.'

Whilst the Royal Society declined to publish this paper in full, an abstract of the paper was published in volume 20 of the Proceedings of the Royal Society as 'Researches on solar physics'.
