Russell presents his mathematic theories regarding the mechanical description of curves, taking as an example three wheels rolling into one another.

Whilst the Royal Society declined to publish this paper in full, an abstract of the paper was published in volume 18 of the Proceedings of the Royal Society as 'On the mechanical description of curves'.
