Description

Figures from a paper published by Gamgee in volume 158 of Philosophical Transactions as 'Researches on the blood.—On the action of nitrites on blood'.

Includes two circular plates of photographs of blood taken under a microscope, and a chart in red ink indicating the colours of 'normal arterial blood', 'blood in which nitrates have commenced to act', and 'blood after it has been fully acted upon by nitrates'. Note on front reads 'Last leaf of Gamgee not to be printed'.
