Description

This paper is presented as a continuation of one which appeared in Philosophical Transactions as 'On Fermat's theorem of the polygonal numbers', and the object of it is to call attention to certain properties of odd numbers when placed in a square, according to an arrangement explained by Pollock.

Annotations in pencil and ink throughout. Includes seven pages of diagrams including grids of prime numbers illustrating Pollock's theories.

Whilst the Royal Society declined to publish this paper in full, an abstract of the paper was published in volume 15 of Proceedings of the Royal Society as 'On the mysteries of numbers alluded to by Fermat'.
