Description

Simpson explains that in an earlier issue of the Proceedings of the Royal Society he gave a preliminary notice of a tribasic acid having the composition C12 H8 O12, formed by the action of potash on tercyanide of allyle. He shares details of related experiments.

Marked on front as 'Archives Nov/65'. Annotations in pencil throughout. Includes one diagram relating to an organic acid discovered by Simpson. A related paper was published in Proceedings of the Royal Society as 'On the synthesis of tribasic acids'.

Whilst the Royal Society declined to publish this paper in full, an abstract of the paper was published in volume 12 of the Proceedings of the Royal Society as 'On the synthesis of tribasic acids. (Preliminary notice.)'.
