Description

Fagge and Stevenson present the results of their experiments on animals utilising organic poisons and toxic substances, including digitaline, Helleborus [hellebore], upas [Antiaris toxicaria], 'alcoholic extracts of vomited matters' and 'alcoholic extracts of animal fluids to which digitaline had been added previous to extraction'. Includes a series of tables of experimental results, including experiments on frogs with simple solutions of digitaline and experiments with different preparations of Helleborus.

Annotations in pencil and ink throughout. Marked on front as 'Archives Nov/65'.

Received and read 18 May 1865. Communicated by John Hilton.

Whilst the Royal Society declined to publish this paper in full, an abstract of the paper was published in volume 14 of the Proceedings of the Royal Society as 'On the application of physiological tests for certain organic poisons, and especially digitaline'.
