Ellis writes on Bessel's formulae and tables for calculating heights from observations on the barometer, which were originally published in 1838.

Annotations in pencil throughout. Includes five pages of geometric figures.

Whilst the Royal Society declined to publish this paper in full, an abstract of the paper was published in volume 12 of the Proceedings of the Royal Society as 'Bessel's hypsometric tables, as corrected by plantamour, reduced to english measures and recalculated'.
