Description

Phipson gives an account of a series of mineral substances more or less recently discovered, and several of which have been lately imported into England to be utilised in various arts and manufactures. Fourteen of these substances have been submitted to careful analysis by Phipson, and their chemical composition and properties determined.

Marked on front as 'Archives Jan 1863'.

A version of this paper, featuring details of a series of additional experiments, was published in volume 153 of Philosophical Transactions (see PT/68/7) and abstracted in volume 12 of the Proceedings of the Royal Society as 'Observations on several mineral substances, including their analysis, &c'.
