Description
Reeve has collected data concerning the localities and circumstances of the habitation of the bulimi. This paper embodies his observations on their general distribution under types and provinces of types, and on the relation between the substance and colouring of the shell, and the differences of vegetation, temperature, and other physical conditions under which it is formed.
Preceded by a map of the world showing the geographical distribution over the globe of the Bulimi.

Whilst the Royal Society declined to publish this paper in full, an abstract of the paper was published in volume 5 of Abstracts of the Papers Printed in the Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society of London [later Proceedings of the Royal Society] as 'On the geographical distribution of the Bulini, a group of terrestrial mollusca; and on the modification of their calcifying functions according to the local physical conditions in which the species occur'.
