Fleming quotes from the works of Cuvier, Blumenback, Tiedemann, Macartney, Vicq d'Azyr, Carus, Earle, and Roget, suggesting that the prevalent opinion among comparative physiologists is that the dorsal and lumbar portions of the spine form altogether a rigid structure, not admitting of the lease perceptible flexion.
Followed by three plates of figures of bird bones by H L Steiner.
