Smith's paper is divided into four sections: decomposition and estimation of ammonia and its compounds, decomposition and estimation of hydrocyanic acid and its compounds, decomposition of uric acid and analysis of urine, and the mechanical arrangements. Includes one diagram in the text of Smith's experimental apparatus.
Marked on front as 'Archives 7 May 1846 S H C [Samuel Hunter Christie]'. Annotations in pencil throughout.
