Description
Blair, Colonial Surgeon, British Guiana [Guyana], shares meteorological observations for the period 29 August 1844 to 30 August 1844. He presents tabulated readings from a sympiesometer [barometer], Mason's hygrometer, and self registering thermometer along with observations on clouds for these dates. He goes on to share observations on an earthquake felt on the morning of 30 August 1844.
Marked on front as 'Archives 4 June 1845 S H C [Samuel Hunter Christie]'. Followed by a copy of a letter from Henry Light to Lord Stanley, dated 3 September 1844, and a covering letter addressed to Samuel Hunter Christie, dated 24 October 1844.

Received 25 October 1844.
Whilst the Royal Society declined to publish this paper in full, an abstract of the paper was published in volume 5 of Abstracts of the Papers Printed in the Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society of London [later Proceedings of the Royal Society] as 'Remarks having reference to the earthquake felt in Demerara [former colony, now part of Guyana] on the morning of the 30th of August 1844'.
