Lempriere shares observations recorded between August 1838 and July 1839 inclusive. They are recorded in a table with headings date, high water (time, height), low water (time, height), range of tide, wind (direction, force) and remarks.

Whilst the Royal Society declined to publish this paper in full, an abstract of the paper was published in volume 4 of Abstracts of the Papers Printed in the Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society of London [later Proceedings of the Royal Society] as 'Meteorological Register kept at Port Arthur, Van Diemen’s Land [Tasmania; Lutruwita or Truwana], during the year 1838, and Register of Tides at Port Arthur, from August 1838 to July 1839, both inclusive' [attributed to Arthur Reid Lempiere].
