Unpublished paper, 'On an improved mode of constructing magnets' by James Cunningham

Description

Cunningham, of the Cork Scientific and Literary Society, writes of the need to find a cheap method of making permanent magnets for the construction of magneto-electric machines. He suggests that 'common blister steel' [wrought iron, bar-iron] is well-suited to this purpose.
