De Roos shares his account of the recovery of treasure from the wreckage of HMS Thetis off the south west coast of Cabo Frio [Brazil]. With five illustrations showing the recovery of stores and treasure from HMS Thetis.

Whilst the Royal Society declined to publish this paper in full, an abstract of the paper was published in volume 3 of Abstracts of the Papers Printed in the Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society of London [later Proceedings of the Royal Society] as 'An account of some operations executed at Cape Frio, by the officers and crew of His Majesty's ship algerine, for the purpose of raising a part of the stores, &c. lost in His Majesty's ship thetis'.
