Unpublished paper, 'On certain properties of vapor' by Dionysius Lardner

Description

Lardner argues that aqueous vapour will not be restored to a liquid state under compression, and that the only way to restore a vapour to a liquid is by removing heat from the vapour. He considers permanents gases to be vapours with a large amount of redundant heat.

Whilst the Royal Society declined to publish this paper in full, an abstract of the paper was published in volume 3 of Abstracts of the Papers Printed in the Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society of London [later Proceedings of the Royal Society] as 'On certain properties of vapour'.
