Description

Thackeray describes his experiments on the blood in the vena portae [portal vein], finding that it is darker than in other veins, has a smaller specific gravity, coagulates more quickly, and has more serum and less albumen than blood from elsewhere.

John George Children's initials appear next to the date received. An ink inscription second to last page verso reads 'not to be printed PMR [Peter Mark Roget]'. Annotations and corrects appear throughout in graphite.
