Robinson describes his design for a portable barometer that can be reduced to half its size when not in use. Includes one separate page of illustrations.

Whilst the Royal Society declined to publish this paper in full, an abstract of the paper was published in volume 3 of Abstracts of the Papers Printed in the Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society of London [later Proceedings of the Royal Society] as 'Description of a mountain barometer, the column of which is divisible into two portions for safer and more convenient transport'.
