Description

Crowe reports to Melville on Spitzbergen [Spitsbergen, Svalbard, Norway], Cherry Island [Bear Island, Svalbard, Norway], the surrounding cape, and east Greenland, discussing the potential success of fisheries in the area and describing experiments on wintering in the islands to determine whether they were suitable for year-round habitation. He asks whether the King would be interested in financing further expeditions in the Arctic.
