Letter from Newbold to Christie enquiring as to whether his previous submission of the paper found at PT/29/1 had been received. Included are several temperature observations taken in 1838-1839 at Mangalore [Mangaluru, India] and sea temperatures between Bombay [Mumbai, India] and Suez [Egypt]. These observations were published as part of the paper.

Relates to paper published in Philosophical Transactions as 'On the temperature of the springs, wells and rivers of India and Egypt, and of the sea and table-lands within the tropics'.

Written by Newbold in Bombay [Mumbai] and addressed to Christie at Somerset House, London.
